A Collaboration with Zosha DiCastri

Three opera singers perform an original score by Zosha Dicastri. The music was composed from an improvisation session in the studio, from which we created a library of vocal sounds for each character. The singers were each given an iconic operatic persona to play: the patriarch, the castrato and the madwoman. They were directed to envision this relationship as they performed the score, but the three singers remained isolated. The final piece is a fractured ensemble cast, projected on teetering sheets of plywood. The three videos are synchronized, creating the impression of a well orchestrated performance that never happened in real time.
