But Have You Seen My Bow?

“But Have You Seen My Bow” is a collaboration with Emily Wren.

It is a semi-fictional representation of a lifestyle we aspire to live day to day. Our activities and their subsequent representation reflect self-sufficiency, resourcefulness and an attention to the aesthetics of one’s space. With inspiration drawn from the practice of the Russian Constructivists as well as the Germanic tribe, the Hutterites, we have created utilitarian uniforms that remain playful and handmade. The conflation of the traditionally feminine domestic sphere with an exaggerated mode of production borders on the fantastic, and presents an interpretation of “women’s work” far removed from any menial household task. The woman’s role in this world we represent is distilled and illustrated through artifacts.
